Popeye Doyle bought the house on Archer Avenue in the winter of his 35th year. Over the next decade, he and his wife, Morticia Addams, had three children: Derek Zoolander, Emma Woodhouse, and Anthony Adams. And then they separated. Morticia falls in love with Roger Murtaugh. Meanwhile, Anthony is in love with Emma, who’s married to Peter Venkman but having an affair with Derek’s rival Hansel.
Back when the Dude had a radio show, he was inadvertently responsible for a massacre at a restaurant. One of the victims was Mindy, which caused Mork to lose his mind and think he was a medieval knight. Fortunately, with the help of Mr. Noodle’s brother Mr. Noodle, Mork finds love with Ellen James, and the Dude finds the Holy Grail.
All Philip Marlowe wants to do is run a nightclub, but things start going awry after the infamous child murderer Hans Beckert is arrested there. Jerry Durrance shows up with Marlowe’s old flame, Joan of Arc. Meanwhile, the Invisible Man and Cesare the Somnambulist team up to give him trouble, and Kasper Gutman wants to buy the place out from under him.
My favorite film of 2009 was about a kid who travels to an island on which the components of his psyche are represented by Tony Soprano, Claire Fisher, Eli Sunday, Idi Amin, Sally Ragdoll, and Colonel Frank Fitts.
The truth of the matter is that Donnie Darko and the Joker have been in love all along, much to the chagrin of Mia Thermopolis and Jen Lindley.
But the important question is, who really shot Major Reisman? Everyone thinks it was Scottie Ferguson, but George Washington McLintock seems to know something he’s not telling.
Whoa– I never knew Catherine O’Hara was Sally Ragdoll. I’ve always thought of her as the mom in Home Alone.
Don’t forget, she also employed Nate Fisher’s first wife for a while.
Oh that makes so much more sense! I always thought Popeye Doyle was married to Eleanor Zissou, which really confused me with the whole Emma Woodhouse-Steve Zissou story.
Jill- When you say Nate Fisher’s first wife, do you mean the one who shot Andy Warhol and then dated Lloyd Dobler while he was on the rebound from Velma Kelly?
Kati- It seems silly to conflate Angelica Huston’s various Wes Anderson characters, since Anderson does that himself. She’s his omni-Mom.
Yeah, that one. You know, after Nate Fisher left his sportscasting job, but before his brother became a serial killer. And in between the times their business partner Rico was visiting his sister Carla at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Speaking of Sacred Heart Hospital, I watched a movie yesterday wherein JD’s baby mama made a porno with the guy who knocked up Dr. Izzie Stevens. That must have been awkward to explain.
Also, there was a movie on last night wherein Margene Heffman (Bill Henrickson’s third wife) goes on a date set up by Sarah from The Labyrinth, and then when the guy rejects her, she gets romantic coaching from a Mac (the one that faces off with the PC on commercials). Meanwhile, Sarah’s husband cheats on her with Rebecca from Ghost World, who is best friends with the little girl from ET, who works with Rickie Vasquez. Rickie also ends up giving romantic advice to Margene at a party thrown by the Mac. Oh, and did I mention that Margene and Sarah both work with Rachel Green, who is in a long-term relationship with The Guy From Fashionable Male?
Kind of a mess, really.
