Not to mention that the "reading too much into it" argument assumes that the only "correct" way to read a text is the one that lines up with the author's intentions—as if we the readers (or even the author for that matter) can have access to a stable and objective understanding of authorial intention. Reading is just as much about what the reader brings with her to the text, and how the world surrounding the text interacts with it. If there's queerness in readers and queerness in the world, there's the potential for reading queerness in texts.

If being queer is at least as good and acceptable as being straight, then how can it be an insult to point out that a particular character or work is queer?

i also found the end with calamity in a dress or worse, the idea that their relationship was just "practice" in order to make calamity ready for a "real" one with a man, well, i found that part annoying. but overall still a fun view. :)

Since high school I have had a hatred for Nicolas Cage for this reason. I never understood why he was cast in the roles he played. It annoyed me to no end a tall, skinny Poe like figure would be in an action film or play heroic role, but I finally gave Nicolas Cage a far shake. After I watch some good films with him in them(Raising Arizona, Trapped in Paradise, Peggy Sue got married) I realized they were good films with Nicolas Cage in them he did not make the films but he was the right personality for the roles plus the all had awesome directors.

so in the end I can go on hating Nicolas Cage and don't have to boycott his movies, but some are rightfully bad movies.
